The In-Person Teaching Program provides a basic introduction and understanding of the technology to students and their local teachers. This gives students time to experiment and explore on their own and in collaboration with others in the class. The goal is to create their own original works to be distributed through our Music Distribution Program.
Our In-Person Teaching Program includes workshops like:
- Introduction to Electronic Music Production: This introduction demonstrates the capabilities of common music production tools and equipment to teach students how to create sounds using software and samples, and how to record and edit sequences. We bring portable equipment through our Technology Grants configured to be the school’s personal studio. An important aspect of our training is our Train-the-Teacher Program where we provide instructor-level training for a local teacher to continue training after we leave. We also continue instructing through online lessons. By the end of the class, students prepare a finished work for distribution in a variety of audio formats. As with all of our programs, the students join MyMusic|OurMusic, our collaborative network of current and former students.
- Introduction to Film Scoring: This introduction is intended for students interested in exploring the field of film and media scoring. This course introduces the relationship between film and music. Students learn how to use software to create the music, understand technical requirements, and sync the music to picture.
- Introduction to DJing: This introduction teaches the basics of mixing, history, and other fundamentals to the art of DJing. We introduce the students to DJ equipment and software, teach the basics of how to build a set of songs in the computer and how to use the hardware and software to play a DJ set. With parental consent and supervision, students who are ready to play can join our monthly Twitch Sessions.
